Montgomery Responds to Two Alarmer

The Montgomery Fire Department responded to a call this evening to a structure fire - fire in the bedroom at 53 Valley Avenue in the Village.

Within minutes of arriving on scene a second alarm was sounded.

Coldenham's truck and the FAST Team from Bullville responded to the scene.

Reports from the scene indicated heavy fire pushing out the A and B side of the second story of the two story wooden frame structure.

Firefighters working the blaze report a very hot condition existed inside, while they knocked the fire down with two 1 3/4" hand lines.

Over 40 personnel were on scene working the fire.

Crews worked to find hot spots and conduct overhaul operations.

The fire was declared under control in about 30 minutes.

Additional units from Walden, Pine Bush, Maybrook, and Orange Lake were called in on mutual aid.

A number of firefighters were treated for exhaustion and smoke inhalation, and was taken to a nearby hospital.
